HUANCAS: Experience in the production of Huanquina ceramics
Huanquina pottery, declared a National Cultural Heritage in 2012, is characterized by being a craft exclusively performed by women. Using rudimentary tools passed down from generation to generation, they preserve the tradition, with mothers teaching daughters the knowledge required to prepare durable clay and, consequently, long-lasting works.

Come and enjoy learning their technique and experience crafting your own creations with your hands.

GASTRONOMY
"Juane Chachapoyano"
The jungle-style juane is well-known nationwide. However, this dish originated in Chachapoyas. It is traditionally prepared to celebrate Saint John, who, interestingly, was the original patron saint of Chachapoyas. This is why the city was named San Juan de la Frontera de los Chachapoya. It is also believed that the Spanish settlers of the time created the dish to honor the Feast of Saint John. In Chachapoyas, this dish is made with cassava and chicken and is shaped to represent the head of Saint John the Baptist, which was presented on a silver platter.

During this experience, we will learn how to prepare this cassava-based juane and have the chance to taste it.
