FROM EXPLORER TO ENTREPRENEUR
In the heart of Chachapoyas, a city surrounded by the majesty of the Peruvian Andes, a dream was born. Oscar Rafael von Bischoffshausen Portocarrero, an official tour guide and graduate of CENFOTUR - Lima, was not only passionate about culture but also a true explorer of its secrets and landscapes.

In 2001, alongside his wife, Oscar decided to turn his passion into a tangible reality. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a clear vision, he founded Cloudforest Expeditions, a company dedicated to sharing the beauty and culture of northern Peru with everyone eager to discover it.
A JOURNEY OF RECOGNITION AND LEGACY
Oscar and Milagros' work did not go unnoticed. Their deep knowledge of the region, commitment to responsible tourism, and unwavering passion for the Amazonas region made them respected figures in the industry. Major tourism organizations, including the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), recognized their efforts.

Additionally, Cloudforest was one of the first companies to be included in the "List of Tourism Service Providers" of the same entity—a quality seal that reflected Oscar's dedication to sustainability and the exceptional experience offered to his clients.
A NEW CHAPTER: MILAGROS TAKES THE WHEEL
Twenty years after its founding, the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world, leaving an indelible mark on everyone’s memory and claiming countless lives, including that of our founder and star guide. Faced with an uncertain future, his wife Milagros; who had always been an integral part of the company, understood Oscar's passion and shared his love and concern for the well-being of the region and its tourist areas made a brave decision: to continue the legacy of Cloudforest Expeditions in honor of the tireless work of which was her partner for over 40 years and who fought relentlessly for the recognition of the Utcubamba Valley as a landscape worthy of being visited by tourists from around the world.

That is how, today, it is she who leads and directs the company.
