FORTRESSES AND WATERFALLS

DAY 01 ARRIVAL AT CHACHAPOYAS AIRPORT / OPTIONALS

Arrival at Chachapoyas airport, reception, and transfer to accommodation in Chachapoyas (2335 masl).

 

Optional:

  • Visit the pottery village of Huancas and its canyons, overnight in Chachapoyas.

  • Visit the Quiocta cavern, overnight in Chachapoyas.

DAY 02 VISIT TO KUELAP

Llacta Kuélap is a massive elliptical-shaped construction that rises to 3,030 meters in altitude on a mountain ridge overlooking the upper Utcubamba Valley. The citadel impresses with its extensive high-tiered platforms, temples, and the spatial distribution of the 420 circular dwellings within it. Initially considered a fortress, later research has identified it as a fortified citadel.

DAY 03 VISIT TO GOCTA

Gocta Falls is a 771-meter-high waterfall with a two-stage drop. To reach its base, whether from San Pablo de Valera or Cocachimba, a 5.5-kilometer hike is required. The round-trip journey takes approximately 5 hours. The trails pass through farmland and forests, where, early in the morning, the Andean cock-of-the-rock can sometimes be spotted.

Overnight stay in Chachapoyas (2,235 masl).

DAY 04 TRANSFER TO CHACHAPOYAS AIRPORT

​At the agreed time, you will be transferred to the Chachapoyas airport for your flight to Lima. ​
